Zazios, an upscale Italian restaurant, will close down Kalamazoo's downtown location on Nov. 14, but a renovation of the space will include another restaurant for residents to enjoy. The new restaurant is slated to open in the summer of 2021.
According to its parent company, Greenleaf Hospitality Group, Zazios will close its doors forever Nov. 14. The restaurant, located within the Radisson Plaza Hotel, will be turned into a brand new restaurant. Greenleaf turned to Zazios guests to learn what they'd like to see from the new restaurant. The company's release announced restaurant details would be revealed later.
Greenleaf Hospitality Group CEO Tim Rayman said the team listened to the local residents and hotel guests, which allows them to create an offering based on their needs. Rayman said they've had many years with Zazios serving the Kalamazoo community and anticipate a great future with the next chapter.
According to the Community Planning & Economic Development website, the inside of the new restaurant will have a new layout and finishes. The plan also includes a flat roof with skylights, which would allow additional light into the restaurant. There is also a building addition of 1,360-square feet.
For 16 years, Zazios served the community of Kalamazoo. In 2016, the company renovated the restaurant to deformalize the space, so it was more inviting to guests. Greenleaf Hospitality Group continues to offer the same kind or better service with the new concept that Zazios was known for. Zazios has been a place of festivities, good food and drinks and culinary entertainment, the statement read.
In 2019, another Radisson restaurant was upgraded. On the second floor, The Morning Dish took the place of Burdick's for Breakfast.
When Zazios closes, the team will work with Webster's Prime, with its menu offer some of Zazios' favorite meals.
